Nunavut Housing Corporation
The Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) leads efforts to
provide fair access to affordable housing options across Nunavut, addressing the
territory's unique challenges through public housing, homeownership programs,
and innovative strategies. Under the Igluliuqatigiingniq initiative, known as
Nunavut 3000, NHC targets 3,000 new housing units by 2030, with 855 units
completed by mid-2025, representing 85% of the initial 1,000-unit mandate. Core
services include management of public housing via Local Housing Organizations
for allocations, maintenance, and repairs; homeownership support for purchases,
renovations, and financing; and the Nunavut Affordable Housing Supply Incentive
(NAHSI) to expand market options.
